BWI® ANNOUNCES DISCONTINUATION of BWI has made a strategic decision to no longer distribute LJ Smith stair parts. The reasons for this decision are a difference in distribution philosophy and BWI’s desire to focus on its’ core business - doors. This decision will allow us to free up inventory space and dollars, as well as sales support resources, to increase our industry leading selection of interior and exterior doors. We plan to add significantly to our steel and fiberglass offerings, as well as our interior and exterior wood door offerings . On the interior molded side, we will broaden the styles and sizes that we have in stock! All this boils down to is one thing . BWI® COMBINES CONSOLIDATION WITH GROWTH Branchburg, NJ – Bridgewater Wholesalers, Inc.® (BWI®), the leading East Coast distributor of fine millwork and doors to independent retailers, began 2008 by fine tuning its operations. According to BWI president, Jack Cortese, a careful operational analysis made clear the advantages of utilizing the company’s principal production facility in Pennsylvania more extensively. “Our Pennsylvania facility has always been a source of pride for BWI,” said Cortese. “It’s a mature facility that consistently meets the highest industry standards. We’d be remiss not to take full advantage of the state-of-the-art technologies we have in place there.” According to Cortese, the economies of scale that will result from increasing the production output of its Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania plant will enable BWI to discontinue production at its Richmond, Virginia facility with no effect on customer service or delivery schedules in the Virginia and North Carolina service areas. “All shipping and loading will continue to be handled from the Richmond facility,” explained Cortese. “Only production will be reassigned to Pennsylvania.” Cortese emphasized that BWI feels very much a part of the community in Virginia. “Richmond has become an important distribution center and we value our employees in Virginia who will continue on with us.” By eliminating manufacturing redundancies and consolidating more of our production in Pennsylvania, our goal is to hold the line on pricing while the industry regains its momentum, both in this region and up and down the East Coast.” With over 400 employees, six locations, and one of the largest fleets in the industry, BWI has established itself as the premier provider of fine millwork and door products for independent retailers from Maine to North Carolina. Branchburg NJ- Bridgewater Wholesalers, Inc.(BWI), a leading distributor of interior and exterior doors in the northeast, announces the opening of two new locations. The first, located in Greensboro, NC, is a distribution center strategically located to service all independent dealers in North Carolina. The second, located in Leominster, MA is a 158,000 square foot production and distribution facility acquired through an asset purchase from Masonite. This facility will service independent dealers in Connecticut, Massachusetts, Vermont, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Maine. Both facilities should be fully operational by October 1, 2007.
